Post Assessment Team

FRCS would like to inform you of the recent establishment of a Post Assessment Team within the Taxation Division.  This Team has been set up in line with the FRCS’s Compliance Improvement Strategy and our commitment towards improving the taxpayer services. Whilst self-assessment brings about simplicity and efficiency to both taxpayers and the tax administration, there will always be underlying issues relating to non-compliance. To ensure that these issues are addressed, FRCS will continue to consider ways to improve customer service, encourage voluntary compliance and prevent revenue leakages.

The Post Assessment team has been set up to identify tax compliance risks associated with self-assessed returns. The Team will conduct verification checks on specific focus areas to ensure the accuracy, correctness and completeness of all declarations and returns filed on the Taxpayer Online Service (TPOS) portal.

The post assessment process will also involve the team’s collaboration with external stakeholders. This verification process may involve reaching out to the taxpayers for additional information or clarification. In some cases, taxpayers may be advised to amend their returns to correct any discrepancies. It is crucial that taxpayers promptly respond to any requests for information or amendments within the specified timeframe. Failure to comply may result in FRCS taking action to amend the respective returns.

FRCS is committed to maintaining the integrity of the tax system and ensuring that all taxpayers fulfill their obligations. FRCS is working towards enhancing compliance for all taxpayers through education and awareness on the importance of accurate disclosures and reporting as required under the tax laws. Additionally, we are also increasing our outreach and advocacy programs to assist taxpayers strengthen compliance through self-assessment.

We are urging all taxpayers to contact us for assistance in education, awareness and training needed on our online processes.
