When leaving Fiji, certain goods are subject to export controls and may require permits or special clearance. Please ensure you meet all requirements before attempting to export the following:
1. Prohibited Exports
You must obtain the appropriate approvals to export items such as:
- Narcotic drugs or controlled substances

2. Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES)
Fiji enforces CITES regulations to protect endangered flora and fauna. If you intend to export any items made from or containing endangered species (e.g., coral, shells, ivory, feathers), you must obtain the necessary permits from the relevant authorities such as I-Taukei Affairs and Department of Environment.
3. Agricultural and Biological Items
Before exporting or carrying any of the following, consult Biosecurity Authority of Fiji for:
- Food of any kind
- Plants or plant parts (live or dead)
- Animals or animal products
- Used equipment (e.g., camping gear, golf clubs, bicycles)
- Biological specimens
These items may pose biosecurity risks and requires inspection or treatment before export.
4. Firearms and Weapons
Exporting firearms is strictly regulated.
You must:
- Declare all firearms and weapons to a Customs officer at the airport for safekeeping and clearance.
- Obtain an export permit from the Fiji Police Force
