ASYCUDA World (Automated System for Customs Data) is a web-based customs management system developed by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). In Fiji, it plays a central role in modernizing and streamlining customs operations under the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS).



Implementation and Integration

Fiji adopted ASYCUDA World as part of its broader reform agenda to align with international trade standards, particularly under the Revised Kyoto Convention and the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement. The system is the backbone of Fiji’s National Single Window initiative, which aims to integrate all trade-related regulatory agencies into a unified digital platform.


Key Features and Benefits

  • Real-Time Data Access: ASYCUDA World allows customs officers, importers, exporters, and regulatory agencies to access and process trade data in real time.

  • VAT Refund System: A notable enhancement is the ASYTVRS module, which automates VAT refunds for tourists. This has reduced processing time from 5 minutes to just 2 minutes per transaction.

  • Integration with Tax Systems: The system is integrated with the FITS (Fiji Integrated Tax System), ensuring that taxpayer data is synchronized and up-to-date.

  • Training and Capacity Building: FRCS has conducted extensive training for customs officers, private sector stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure effective use of the platform
