Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) hereby informs all Ministries (including tertiary institutions and statutory bodies), Diplomatic Missions, and International Organizations that any commercial goods—whether hand‑carried or imported as cargo—require formal customs clearance.
- Customs Clearance Requirement
All commercial goods brought into Fiji — including samples, promotional materials, demonstration equipment, and project equipment — are subject to formal customs clearance through a licensed customs agent.
Engagement of a registered customs agent is mandatory to facilitate entry and ensure compliance with Fiji’s customs laws and procedures.
For temporary importations or privileged goods, the designated customs agent must be notified in advance to liaise with FRCS, provide required documentation, and coordinate clearance arrangements.
- Pre‑Arrival Coordination
Delegates or personnel intending to hand‑carry commercial goods must engage a customs agent prior to arrival in Fiji to initiate clearance and avoid delays.
- Pre‑Advance Processing
FRCS provides a three‑day pre‑advance processing window during which goods may be registered and clearance initiated before the delegation’s arrival.
This supports timely processing and reduces the risk of border‑related delays.
- Arrival Declarations
All commercial goods must be declared on the Passenger Arrival Card and presented at the Customs Secondary Checkpoint (Baggage Clearance Area) for inspection.
Failure to declare such goods may result in delays, seizure, or detention pending formal clearance.
Where all documentation is in order and lodged through the customs agent, clearance will be processed efficiently.
- Documentation Requirements
Delegates must carry a detailed list of all commercial goods, including descriptions, quantities, and estimated values.
Where available, a copy of the Customs Entry or equivalent documentation should accompany the goods to support valuation and record‑keeping.
FRCS trusts the above clarifies applicable customs procedures. Our office remains available to provide further guidance or assistance to support smooth and timely clearance for visiting delegations.
