Data Warehouse, Risk Engine and BI Analytics

The New Taxpayer Information System (NTIS) utilizes a data warehouse, risk engine and Business Intelligence Analytics. This integration allows the risk engine to deliver a range of risk insights for taxpayers once a tax return is filed.

Business Intelligence (BI) Analytics

The Fiji Revenue & Customs Service (FRCS) leverages Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Analytics to enhance its operational efficiency, policy development, and enforcement capabilities. This initiative is part of FRCS’s broader digital transformation strategy aimed at becoming a world-class revenue authority.

Key Functions of BI Analytics at FRCS 🔍

  • Data Integration: FRCS consolidates data from multiple sources including NTIS, ASYCUDA, the Fiji Financial Intelligence Unit, BDM office and the Land Transport Authority of Fiji into a centralized data warehouse.

  • Risk Profiling: Using advanced analytics and a risk engine, FRCS identifies high-risk taxpayers, such as those with overstated expenses and under-reported incomes.

  • Fraud Detection: BI tools help detect patterns of tax evasionunderreporting and non-compliance.

  • Policy Support: Insights from analytics inform tax policy development, helping tailor regulations to real-world taxpayer behaviour.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: BI insights are used to support industry awareness programs and improve compliance through education.
