Import License for Used Motor Vehicles
To apply for an Import License for Used Motor Vehicles, prepare a written request and attach the required documents. The vehicle must meet specific conditions based on type, age, and Euro 4 compliance.
Notes:
- Brand new vehicles do not require an import license but must be Euro 4 compliant.
- Obtain the Import License before shipping the vehicle.
- JEVIC Inspection is required for vehicles from Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.
- Left Hand Drive vehicles are prohibited unless approved by LTA.
- Written-off vehicles are prohibited.
- Both brand new and used electric vehicles do not require an import license.
- For personal importation, liaise with LTA prior to importation.
Procedure Steps:
Step 1: Prepare Your Application
Write a request for an Import License and attach required documents:
- Authorization letter (if acting on behalf of importer)
- Application letter
- Deregistration documents or Export Certificates
- Applicant’s ID
- JEVIC report (for Japan, Australia, and New Zealand imports)
- Technical Letter (for Singapore imports)
- Certificate of Compliance to Euro 4 standards
Step 2: Submit the Application
- Email the application and documents to tarrif&trade@frcs.org.fj or submit in person at FRCS Complex, Nasese.
- FRCS NTTA Team will review the application.
- If documents are missing, you will be notified to submit them.
Step 3: Collect the Import License
- Collect the license in person at FRCS Complex, Nasese, or receive it via email.
- If rejected, you will be informed via email with reasons for rejection.
