Before landing in Fiji, you will receive a Fiji Passenger Arrival Card from your airline, shipping agent, or flight crew. Each traveller must complete both sides of the card clearly and legibly.
1. On Arrival
At the immigration checkpoint, present:
- Your completed arrival card
- Passport
- Any supporting documents (e.g., visa approvals, airline tickets, authority letters)
2. Customs Declarations
You must tick ‘Yes’ in the Customs section of your arrival card if you are carrying:
- Prohibited or restricted items (refer to the Prohibited Imports and Exports Regulations 1986)
- Currency of FJ$10,000 or more (or equivalent in foreign currency)
- Biosecurity risk goods (see section 7)
3. Passenger Allowances
Personal Effects
Duty-free if:
- Owned and used prior to arrival
- For personal use only (not for sale or as gifts)
- Reasonably expected to be carried in baggage
Note: Commercial quantities of clothing or footwear are not included.
Alcohol & Tobacco (for travelers 18+)
Allowed duty-free if:
- Accompanied by the traveler
- Not for sale or on behalf of others
Tobacco Allowance:
- Up to 200 cigarettes, or
- 200g cigars/tobacco, or
- A combination not exceeding 200g
- E-cigarettes: up to 200ml/mg
- Chewing tobacco is prohibited
Alcohol Allowance:
- Up to 3L spirits, or
- 4.5L wine, or
- 4.5L beer
- Or a combination not exceeding the total limit
Other Goods
Duty-free if:
For personal use only
Value does not exceed FJ$2,000
Accompanied by the traveler
Gold Card Holders Allowances
- Value should not exceed FJ$3,000
- Accompanied by the gold card holder
- For personal use only
Tobacco Allowance:

4. Goods Exceeding Allowances
Subject to duty if:
- Intended for commercial use (e.g., samples, business equipment)
- Professional or technical equipment
- Personal goods exceeding FJ$2,000 in value (excluding used personal effects)
Tip: Keep receipts for all purchases, including duty-free items.
5. Currency Declaration
Declare if carrying FJ$10,000 or more (or equivalent in foreign currency or negotiable instruments).
You must complete a Border Currency Reporting Form if applicable.
6. Medicines
If carrying prescription or controlled drugs:
- Bring a doctor’s prescription
- Ensure the medicine is for personal use and medically necessary
7. Biosecurity Requirements
Declare all biosecurity risk goods to the Biosecurity Authority of Fiji (BAF). These include:
- Food of any kind
- Animals, animal products, fish, birds, eggs, honey, etc.
- Plants, fruits, seeds, flowers, wood, soil, etc.
- Used equipment (e.g., camping gear, sports shoes, tools)
- Biological specimens (e.g., vaccines, insects, fungi)
Dispose of undeclared items in the Biosecurity Amnesty Bins at the border.
Penalties for non-compliance:
- Spot fine: FJ$400
- Prosecution: Up to FJ$20,000 fine, 6 months imprisonment, or both.

8. Customs Charges & Clearance
Goods not qualifying for duty-free entry are subject to:
- Customs Duty (based on CIF value – Cost, Insurance, Freight)
- Value Added Tax
- Import Excise Duty (where applicable)
- Import Entry Transaction Fee
If you cannot pay the duty, goods will be detained and may be disposed of if unclaimed.
All payments must be made in Fijian currency.
