FRCS Focuses on Employer and Employee Readiness for New Tax Portal Online Services (TPOS)

The Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) is urging taxpayers to prepare for the new online services that the Tax Office will be launching in February 2021.

The five new services to be launched online in February will be filing of Pay As You Earn (PAYE), and Provisional Tax (PT), Taxpayer Requests for Withholding Tax Statement (WHT) and Possession Agreement and Certificate of Exemption (COE) for Provisional Tax and Resident Interest Withholding Tax (RIWT). Collections Management will also be implemented online to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in managing Taxpayer services.

The Acting Chief Executive Officer Ms Fane Vave is requesting all employers to ensure that their employee’s records are current and accurate and this can be verified by ensuring that information has been uploaded and registered on the Taxpayer Online Services (TPOS).

“In preparedness for full automation of services, FRCS is requesting all employers in Fiji to ensure they supply accurate information about their employees when they submit files electronically, as any information such as incorrect employee Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) will lead to the rejection of the employer submitted electronic files and this will delay the prompt processing of information by FRCS,” Ms Vave said.

Currently, more than 4,400 employers are registered with FRCS.

According to Ms Vave, FRCS is working very closely with these employers to ensure all data is cleansed and updated before PAYE is launched on TPOS, however they are still faced with challenges as outdated and incorrect employee data is a frequent occurrence. Ms Vave added that the implementation of new online services is a significant achievement for FRCS and a demonstration of our commitment to be a contemporary service oriented organisation.

She has encouraged people to utilise the education and awareness materials that FRCS has developed on various tax types to enhance understanding of FRCS services.
